Dartford looking to extend Whitehawk's poor run in National League South with victory at Princes Park

Tony Burman wants Dartford to pile more pressure on freefalling Whitehawk when the sides clash at Princes Park on Saturday.

Four months ago the Hawks were third in National League South but they arrive in Kent just two points above the relegation zone.

Since going out of the FA Cup to Dagenham in December, the Sussex club have taken just two of a possible 27 points.

They sacked Steve King last month and look a shadow of the side which knocked Dartford out of the FA Trophy earlier this season.

Darts boss Burman said: "We’re all disappointed when we get knocked out of the FA Cup.

"Is it a hindrance sometimes, with the amount of games you have to regroup with.

"The money’s fantastic but they were one of the favourites (for promotion) and it’s gone a little bit sour for them at the moment.

"I wonder if they wish they weren’t in the FA Cup and that they’d concentrated on the league. Who’s to know what’s right or wrong?

"They’re having, by their standards, a bit of a poor run and I hope it continues for them on Saturday."

Dartford go into the game three points outside the play-offs and their recent results are inconsistent to say the least.

Burman’s men are yet to record back-to-back wins in 2016 and were beaten 2-1 at Weston-super-Mare last Saturday.

He said: "That’s the second (league) game in a row when we’ve found ourselves 2-0 down You can’t keep making games more difficult for yourselves when they’re difficult enough already.

"Some players, at this moment in time, are making some wrong decisions and they’ve got punished for it.

"We went through a spell like this earlier in the season and it’s disappointing."
