Dartford have parted company with former Dagenham & Redbridge defenders Mark Arber and Richard Rose

Mark Arber and Richard Rose have both turned down contract offers at Dartford and have left the club.

The defenders both arrived at Princes Park last summer after being released by Dagenham & Redbridge. They helped the newly-promoted Darts finish eighth in Blue Square Bet Premier.

But full-back Rose has accepted an offer from another club and centre-back Arber is now a free agent after a dispute over the length of the new contract he was offered by Dartford manager Tony Burman.

Arber, 35, is a particularly big loss for the Darts. He played 44 times for Burman's side last season and his central defensive partner, Tom Bonner, left the club last month to sign for Conference Premier rivals Cambridge United.

Burman said: "Mark would like to stress the decision is not for financial reasons or travelling issues but more to do with the length of the contract that was offered."

Arber then tweeted: "Just to quash rumours I didn't ask for a two-year deal. At nearly 36 years of age I understand my limitations and wouldn't take such liberties with a club/manager I have a lot of respect for."

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Rose made 42 appearances in Dartford colours, scoring twice.
