Dartford sign forward Michael Fernandes on loan from Colchester United

Dartford boss Steve King has landed promising winger Michael Fernandes on loan until January.

Fernandes, 21, joins from League 2 Colchester United, where he is highly-rated and previously been part of the first-team squad although he is yet to make his senior debut.

He has been involved throughout pre-season with Colchester but will now link up with King's Dartford squad in National League South.

The youngster signed for Colchester from Farnborough in 2019.

Colchester director of football Tony Humes said: "It's the next natural step for Michael in his development.

"We have seen it in other young players, they aren't going to be really stretched at U23s level and need to experience regular competitive football.

"He has had a good pre-season being in and around the first team squad and hopefully this move will be beneficial for all three parties - Michael himself, us and Dartford."
