Welling manager Dean Frost looks ahead first game in charge against FC Halifax in the National League

Welling boss has urged his team to show some fight ahead of his first game in charge.

The Wings travel to in-form FC Halifax on Saturday in the National League bidding for their first three points since mid-October.

Frost returned to Park View Road after Loui Fazakerley was sacked on Monday and is in no doubt as to the challenge ahead.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge," said Frost. "It's going to be different for me compared to what I'm used to.

"I'm going to be the final decision maker which is nice, it means the buck stops with me.

"I'd like to think that we can only improve. But we all have to stick together, players, staff and supporters and show some fight.

"It's going to be a tough game. They are on an unbeaten run under a new manager and we're hoping that we can bring that to an end.

"They are a big strong side and we've got to be prepared for that."

After losing defender Ben Jefford to Forest Green on Thursday, Frost drafted in two loan players in Millwall left-back Noah Chesmain and Brentford midfielder James Ferry.

He conceded that he is on the lookout for firepower and is also keen to bring bodies in first, before he starts trimming his squad.

"I'm trying to get players in first, that's my main concern - to give the squad a bit of balance," he said.

"We've probably got too many bodies but it's not the right time to be releasing people yet. It's a bit lop-sided in a few positions.

"Upfront it's clear that we need to strengthen by the goals record. We're trying to change that but it's proving to be quite difficult.

"I'd like someone that is available for the next three months ideally, instead of just one."

UPDATE: Welling have released striker Kieron St.Aimie with immediate effect.

St.Aimie scored just four times in 38 games for Welling, but his departure is sure to free up funds in Frost's budget to bring in fresh firepower.
