Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler is working hard to bolster his injury-hit squad with Football League players before Saturday’s FA Trophy trip to Fleetwood.

After two defeats in a Christmas to forget – including a 6-2 thrashing at Lewes – Dover got back on track with a 2-0 win against the same opposition on New Year’s Day.

The win put Whites third in Blue Square South but they face a selection crisis for Saturday and beyond, leaving Hessenthaler working to bring new faces to Crabble.

He said: "I’m making calls, talking to people and calling in favours. I want to get a centre-half and I have been talking to a league club."

Sammy Moore is suspended for Saturday’s trip to Lancashire and Jon Wallis, Danny Walder and Jake Leberl are all rated no better than 50/50. Dean Grant is cup tied.

Dean Hill faces a three-game ban after Saturday while James Rogers is suspended for one match after the Fleetwood trip.

Dover will travel tomorrow (Friday) to prepare for the clash with the Blue Square North title-chasers, who are in good form after beating league leaders Southport 4-0 on New Year’s Day.

Hessenthaler said: "They have got a good set-up up there, they have not had any games called off over Christmas and New Year but they called us earlier in the week and said it has been very cold.

"It would be our worst nightmare to go up there on Friday and the game is called off and we have to go up for a replay in midweek."

He added: "This is a massive game for the club. If you get through then you are in the last 16 and then who knows what can happen?"
