Andy Hessenthaler wants maximum points from Dover Athletic's next two home games

Six points from the next two games would firmly re-establish Dover in the Blue Square South promotion hunt, says Whites boss Andy Hessenthaler.

After the frustration of arriving at Bishop’s Stortford only for the game to be called-off due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday, Dover dropped to eighth, their lowest position of the season.

However, maximum points from Saturday’s home clash with Braintree and Tuesday’s visit of Worcester could establish Dover back in the top-three.

The Whites have won two and drawn another of their last three home games and Hessenthaler says they will go all out to win both games.

He said: “I’m not paying too much attention to what position we are in, one or two wins is all you need to get right back in the thick of it.

“The table is really tight, we’ve got games in hand on some teams now where just a few weeks ago we had played more than anybody else. It’s all changed around.”

He added: “Saturday is a very big game. A win and we go above Braintree having played the same number of games. We will know what to expect, Braintree are a hard-working side and it will be an interesting one.”

He added: “I’d like to get maximum points from the two home games, but the key thing is to not be beaten.

“I would probably take four points from the two games but we have got to go out and be positive so we will be trying for six points.”
