Two men arrested after burglary at Autobase in North Barrack Road, Walmer

Police investigating a smash and grab at a Deal bike shop have made two arrests.

The early morning burglary was at Autobase in North Barrack Road, Walmer on April 27 where a bike and an electric scooter were taken.

Two men have since been arrested over the alleged offence.

A police spokesman said: "A 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from the Dover area, were arrested on suspicion of burglary in relation to the investigation have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Previously we reported that the offence took place between 2am and 2.30am and a window was damaged, along with three bicycles, when the thieves got in.

The stolen items are described as a green Bianchi bicycle, and a grey Reid E4 Plus e-scooter.

After the burglary, Autobase put out a statement on Facebook showing the products that were taken.

It said: "We are devastated and deeply saddened to find we were broken into last night.

"Unfortunately, they managed to steal a turquoise Bianchi Duel Mountain Bike and a matte black Reid E4+ Electric scooter, as well as completely smashing the windows and causing immense damage to all other bikes in stock."
