A gallery in Deal is celebrating William Shakespeare's birthday today, while the rest of the country marks the 400th anniversary of his death.

Linden Hall Studio in St George's Road, will hold their first ticketed event 'Cake and Ale.

Actors Simon Gregory, Lynn Archer, Dave Norman and pianist Neil Wright will be performing a variety of favourite readings from the works of William Shakespeare.

It is believed the Elizabethan bard, responsible for penning Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, was born on April 23, and after a sccessful career writing plays, died on or around the same day.

Admission by ticket (£12).

Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start.
