Deal Rowing Club collected seven gold medals during the second Coast Regatta at Eastbourne at the weekend.

The Deal club also won the Grand Junior Aggregate and after the latest Coast event they have 10 points in the chase for the Grand Championship and 117 points in the Cara League.

Stephen Holmes, Oli Hook, Dev Whiteman and Charlie Creed with cox Aston Hibbert won by six lengths in the Junior Senior Fours, ahead of the B crew of Chris Dale, Damian Cook, Matt Holmes, Lloyd Payne and cox Toby Shorter to put them 2-0 ahead in the Junior Senior Fours Championship.

The hosts finished third.

The Junior Four of Dale, Cook, Holmes, Payne and cox Hibbert won their second race of the season, beating the Bexhill team by four lengths.

Dale and Payne followed that up with their first win in the Junior Sculls with a one length victory over the B pair of Holmes and Cook.

In the Junior Sculls, Hook gained his first win with a two-length victory over Herne Bay, while in the Novice Sculls, it was victory for Whiteman.

The Novice Fours final saw the Deal crew of Will Dennis, Andy Hill, Aaron Cook, Alex Bush and cox Shorter gain their second win of the year and they now move up to junior status.

In the Ladies’ Pair event, there was more joy as Sam Card and Jo Johnson fought off the challenge from Bexhill to win by two lengths.
