Deal Rowing Club's junior/senior four of Stephen Holmes, Ollie Hook, Devon Whiteman and Charlie Creed
Deal Rowing Club held their annual regatta on Sunday and in fine weather their crews put in some impressive performances.
The junior/senior four of Stephen Holmes, Ollie Hook, Devon Whiteman and Charlie Creed, coxed by Toby Shorter, secured the CARA Championship with their sixth win of the season.
The junior four of Chris Dale, Damien Cooke, Matthew Holmes, Lloyd Payne and cox Aston Hibbert were followed home by Herne Bay and the Deal B crew of Will Dennis, Andy Hill, Aaron Cooke, Liam Mockeridge.
Dale and Payne won the junior pairs race comfortably and are now leading the CARA Championships by three wins. They need one more to secure the pairs title.
The ladies’ pair of Sam Card and Jo Johnston returned to their usual winning form with a dominant performance on home water and the club’s novice ladies’ crew of Katie Smith, Hannah Dale, Emily Baldwin, Ellie Perkins and cox Aston Hibbert recorded their first career win with an easy victory of more than a length over the second place crew from Bexhill.
Smith followed this win with another easy win over two Shoreham scullers in the novice ladies’ sculls.
The club’s senior four of Jason Morgan, Kirk Bell, Tom Glynn, James Morgan and cox Aston Hibbert delivered a win in a re-row, which followed an incident at the second turns with crews from Herne Bay Bexhill and the Deal D crew being disqualified.
The overall club performance was rewarded with the junior, ladies and grand aggregates being won by the club.
