A MAN who died in a house fire in College Road, Deal, on Sunday morning has been identified.

He was 76-year-old James Adams who lived at the property with his wife.

Police and neighbours were unable to save the pensioner who was trapped after the ground floor fire started around 2am.

His wife managed to escape and asked a member of the public to raise the alarm.

Firefighters from Deal and Dover had the blaze totally under control by about 3.55am.

Police and fire investigation officers have carried out an investigation. They say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
