Dover boss Martin Hayes admitted he had mixed feelings despite an unbeaten start to their Blue Square Bet South season.

Whites followed up their opening-day win at Woking with a 2-2 home draw against Welling on Tuesday, but Hayes, pictured, was disappointed his team were not at their best in front of their own fans.

"It was a mixture of good and bad but that’s what this league throws up at you," said Hayes. "I’m not desperately unhappy with our start. I would have taken the points the other way round if you had offered them last week.

"It just would have been nice to get a home win."

Dover welcome Staines on Saturday before travelling to Ebbsfleet for their second Kent derby in four games on Tuesday.

Hayes said: "Staines won’t play as much football as Welling. They will be closer to Woking - big, strong and direct and we dealt with that all right.

"We’ve got to try and hurt them on the floor by passing it better than we did against Welling."

Hayes is hoping that Nicky Nicolau receives his international clearance in time to feature while he is waiting to hear the extent of Matt Fish’s groin injury.
