Dover Athletic will travel to Huddersfield for their FA Cup
third round tie in style on Saturday after spending
£15,000 to charter a plane for the morning flight from Manston to
Manchester.

Sponsors and supporters have paid £500 each to join the players
and club officials on the trip and chairman Jim Parmenter,
pictured, believes it is money well spent.

He said: "We did a few overnight stays
last season and lost every game, so we thought we would do it
differently this time. We sold 20 seats which have helped pay for
the trip."

Mr Parmenter admits a first-ever third
round FA Cup tie is a big day for the club
and supporters, but insists Dover's long-term
ambitions are far more important.

He said: "Winning at Thurrock was more
important to us than the FA Cup. It’s a great occasion, a one-off
game and a fantastic chance to go play a League 1 club at a big
stadium.

"Our aim, though, is promotion this
season and we have got to be playing our league games – and winning
them. I think we have got 16 games in eight weeks, so every injury
or problem we get will be a concern because we need the whole squad
to get through that."
