It features three talented and emerging local artists.

The ground floor will be featuring Cut and Paste, a display of collage by Jane Dickins and Kathryn Reilly.

“Ms Reilly said: “We are both passionate about using recycled materials to create art.

“While we have different approaches and inspirations, our common aim is to make something challenging and provocative.

“We live in a world surrounded by choice.

"Jane is interested in exploring what happens to the creative process when we take away some of that choice.

"Her collages are inspired by artistic traditions born of scarcity and thrift. Each collage has been created using old clothes otherwise intended for waste or disposal. She describes the process as ‘painting with textiles.”

Kathryn is drawn to vintage photography and imagery.

Having worked in magazines for many years, she now takes an anthropological eye to the moral codes on the pages poking fun at the patriarchal posturing of yesteryear.

She juxtaposes strong black and white images and text with bright colours to make pieces that seek to raise a smile.”

The first floor is Sea Signatures, an exhibition of paintings by Julie Sumner and inspired by the sea.

She described the process as: “Standing at the edge of the sea looking, watching an individual wave build up, crescendo and tumble down. Following the movement and energy in a single line straight onto the canvas; a Sea Signature of that moment.”

Waves to Ms Sumner are “so joyful they feel like a dance and the movement so lyrical it is like music.”

The artist lives near Deal. She gained her degree in Fine Art from the University of the Creative Arts Canterbury in 2017 and won the Watts Gallery Winsor and Newton Painting Prize for her expansive, colourful and whimsical Doodle Series paintings.

"These formed the basis of the Flat Out series, exhibited in November 2019.

Alongside commissions, she is currently painting Sea Signatures on the coast, and A Year of Skies 2020: a painting of the sky everyday for a year.

Linden Hall is at 32 St George's Road, Deal.

Pop-Up Week can be visited daily 10am to 4pm until Saturday.
