Dover were beaten but not disgraced as their FA Cup adventure came to an end in cold and sleety West Yorkshire.

Nearly 1,600 fans cheered on the Whites but two early goals in the space of a minute put the skids under any hopes of an upset.

Lee Novak set up both goals. He looked two yards offside before crossing for Scott Arfield to score from close range on seven minutes and then 60 seconds later provided the cross which Gary Roberts converted for the second.

However Dover settled and played some neat football without really threatening the League 1 side. Olly Schulz saw his header cleared off the line by Roberts and home keeper Alex Smithies nearly made a hash of a backpass.

Dover saved the best til last in a hectic finale, substitute Sam Long blasted wide then Adam Birchall saw his effort saved at the near post by Smithies who then saved Harry Baker's shot after it deflected off defender Antony Kay in the dying minutes.

Dover boss Martin Hayes (pictured) said: "I was very pleased because it was not the best of starts. Everything we spoke about went out of the window, but we kept it at 2-0, and it gave us a chance to have a go at them.

"In the second half we threw everything we had at them, made a game of it, and I'm just disappointed we didn't score."

He added: "The start showed the difference between the two sides. We showed a little bit of naivity, conceding one and we didn't want to let in a second, but we got punished straight away and that made them relax a bit more.

"We scared them at the end and on another day we could have got two and it would have been an epic."
