Suspected drink driver arrested after crash in Kingsdown Road in Walmer

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash where he and another person were taken to hospital.

Police, ambulance and fire crews responded to the two-vehicle incident which happened about 5.40pm in Kingsdown Road, Walmer, yesterday.

Three patients were assessed and treated at the scene.

A woman and a man required further hospital treatment and were taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

The man was treated by air ambulance teams who landed their aircraft at Victoria Park.

However he was escorted to the hospital by land, with continued care given en route.

He was then arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a two-car collision in Kingsdown Road, Walmer at 5.30pm on Tuesday, March 22.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man and a woman were taken to a local hospital.

"The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and enquiries are ongoing."

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) added: "Our crew arrived on scene at 6.46pm where they worked with SECAmb and Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service to help treat the patient who was taken to a major trauma centre by road, with our crew accompanying them in the ambulance to continue delivering their care en route.”
