Dover Athletic manager Martin Hayes is "more than confident" his side can produce a winning run until the end of the Blue Square Bet South season and secure their play-off place.

Whites return to Crabble to face Hampton & Richmond on Saturday on the back of a barren spell which has seen them lose their last three in front of their own fans and not win in five home games.

However, back-to-back away wins have left Hayes’ side four points outside the play-off places – and they have played a game less than the sides above them.

Hayes (pictured) said: "We’ve had two away games and we’ve got some stuff sorted out and started doing good things. The players are showing plenty of confidence.

"The final 16 games is the final chapter of the season and we’ve won the first two of them. I think we only have one or two more top 10 teams to face, so there is the opportunity for us to pick up plenty of points."

He added: "Everyone’s aware of the rain cloud which has been over us at home but we have to remember we have thumped Farnborough twice and beaten Aldershot.

"So long as we can stop making silly mistakes, then there’s no reason we can’t aim for 21 points from the last seven home games."
