Matt Fish believes he will be fit to face Huddersfield on Saturday despite picking up a groin problem at Thurrock on Monday.

The 21-year-old defender (pictured) said: "I thought it was cramp at first but it didn’t go away. We were 7-1 up at the time and there was no point in risking it so I spoke to the gaffer and came off as a precaution.

"I don’t think it is anything too major and hopefully I will train on Thursday. If not, it should be all right for the weekend."

The former Crystal Palace youngster, who still lives in Croydon, is in his fourth season at Crabble and looking forward to testing himself on a big stage.

He said: "Every non-league player wants the chance to play in the third round of the FA Cup.

"We have done ever so well to get here and we did want a Premiership team but going to Huddersfield gives us another opportunity to try and get a result and then get one of the big-boys in the next round.

"Anything can happen on the day, no point in going with league form, they will be looking at us and we won 7-2."

Only Jon Wallis has been at the club longer than Fish and he says the Dover dressing room is a good place to be.

Fish added: "It’s a younger group of players than we have had the last few years and I feel like one of the older ones
now.

"There is good banter between the boys. Everyone plays for each other, there are no outsiders, we are all in it together."
