Flooding alert issued by Environment Agency for Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal and Kingsdown amid threat of high spring tides

Another flood alert for coastal communities has been issued by the Environment Agency today.

Flooding is possible for the Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal and Kingsdown because of high spring tides and anticipated strong winds.

The flooding of property is not expected. Some localised flooding may also be experienced along the tidal Stour around Sandwich.

An Environment Agency statement said: "We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff have closed flood gates in sea defences and are checking flood defence structures."

High tide at Dover is due at 12:55pm today. Winds will be force 6, South-Westerly.

High tide at Sandwich is generally around an hour later than Dover.

Yesterday's flood alert applied to St Margaret's, Dover Folkestone and Sandgate.

The Environment Agency will issue an update today at 5pm.
