Deal's M&S in the High Street was temporarily closed due to flooding

Marks and Spencer in Deal High Street was temporarily closed this morning due to flooding.

The store, which is one of the town's main retailers, placed customer notice signs on the door, saying: "Due to a technical fault we are unable to open for trade at this time."

The store was able to re-open by 1pm.

A employee was seen telling shoppers that the store was not safe for customers to enter, while an engineer confirmed the shop would not be re-opening "any time soon".

An M&S spokesperson said: “Following the bad weather overnight, we can confirm that Marks & Spencer Deal has been temporarily closed.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers in the meantime."
