A 19-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after her son was found wandering in the street.

Police received a report at 10.55am today regarding concerns about an unaccompanied child in College Road, Deal.

Police officers went to the scene where they located the child’s mother nearby.

The ambulance service attended and checked the boy as a precaution.

Spokesman Martin Very said: “A 19-year-old woman from Deal was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and remains in police custody.”

Social media reports suggest the child was a toddler.
