New Dover Athletic striker Calum Willock says Whites are like a Conference Premier club

Calum Willock wasted little time in proving what a valuable acquisition he could be for Dover Athletic.

The 30-year-old striker, who bagged 39 goals for Ebbsfleet in the Conference over the past two seasons before joining Dover last month, made his Whites debut as a half-time substitute in Saturday’s friendly and within five minutes he had scored twice with virtually his first two touches.

Afterwards Willock (pictured) insisted that he had no hesitation over joining Dover in spite of the fact it meant dropping down a division to Blue Square Bet South.

"I knew four or five of the Dover players because I have played with them at other clubs," he said, "and I was aware that Dover are a go-ahead club even though they are in Conference South. I was very happy when I learnt that they were interested in me.

"The set-up at Dover is as good as any Conference Premier club. They have got a very nice ground and they get a good turnout of fans, and I believe I have joined a club who will definitely be among the promotion contenders again this season."
