There will also be toddler and junior multi-play units, spring rockers, a spinning dish, picnic benches and an inclusive roundabout - suitable for wheelchair users.

The highlight will be the a zip wire extending around two thirds of the length of the park.

The equipment is being funded from the government’s Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) for community parks allocated by Kent County Council.

Dover District Council is paying for other renovations which include a new designated dog walking area and new football goalposts.

The works are being carried out by Safeplay Playground Services, and are set to start in April and be completed within two months.

It will be specially renamed ‘Platinum Jubilee Playground’.

Cllr Oliver Richardson, Dover council cabinet member for community and corporate property, said: “We are delighted to be able to use this funding to enhance this park for the community, to help encourage people to enjoy the fresh air in safe outside spaces, and to help mark this historic Platinum Jubilee year.

"Community parks provide a great place for parents and children to exercise, play and learn together.”
