Roaming peacocks who ignored stay at homes rules and invaded a car garage have now attracted the attention of police.

They attended and the road was cleared.

According to Facebook posts, the foursome named Blanche, Gulliver, Prince and Victor remained in the area overnight and were still wandering in the same road, this morning.

Resident Emma Nuttall - despite being kept up by the birds overnight - believes the caller has wasted police time.

She said: "I’m not sure why the police were called or what the issue was to be honest. In my opinion, they’ve wasted police time.

"The peacocks are bringing so much joy to people of Deal, in these uncertain times.

"The peacocks were here all night and kept me and the neighbours up with their shouting and banging on the roof, but I didn’t mind too much.

"They were still outside the house at 9am this morning and my daughter Lottie loved seeing them up close whilst another neighbour fed one of them grapes.

"They left about 9.30am and headed up the other end of Middle Deal Road towards the railway."

The birds are usually spotted around Sholden, close to the home of their owner Paul Louis of Hull Place.

But during the coronavirus lockdown have been seen venturing further afield.

He told KentOnline last November that they usually return every night.

He said: "I decided not to clip their wings as this limits their ability to escape to trees, mainly from foxes."

"They are very tame and non aggressive."

However, he added that over the last few months they have been increasingly absent and adventurous.

He said: "The vast amount of people have no problem with them but of course I understand that there is potential for damage and being a general nuisance. Also there maybe a risk to their health.

"I am desperately trying to work out how to get them safely home. It is not easy to catch peacocks without hurting them particularly with the added complication of isolation rules."

He says he tried to contact the RSPB for help and advice but they are closed due to Covid19. He plans to contact the council on Monday.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 6.35pm on Thursday, April 23 2020 to a report that Middle Deal Road in Deal was blocked by three peacocks.

"Officers attended and the road was cleared."
