A winter wonderland has arrived in east Kent, causing traffic chaos and power cuts.

Roads came to a standstill in Dover and cross Channel travellers were advised not to set out for the port without checking with the shipping company first.

Power went down in parts of Dover and St Margaret's on Saturday morning due to a fault in underground cables, although electricity was restored to 400 homes by 11am.

The deepest snow fell in Deal, where gritters were out before 9am clearing the roads. Snowmen appeared quickly and children were soon out enjoying the winter magic.
