Stunt star puts on inspiring show

A show of skills on wheels and with the VIP appearance of stuntman Kurt Yaeger makes a special skate and music event a must for youngsters on Friday.

Named The Gathering, the event at Deal Skate Park, by Tides, showcases skateboards, inliners, scooters and a BMX show of skills between 5pm and 10pm.

San Fransisco-born Kurt’s BMX talent is at a professional level, exactly what got him noticed in the TV world by the Nickelodeon channel.

When he sustained BMX related injuries he gave stunt work up and went to college, but then suffered injuries in a car crash which resulted in the amputation of his left leg.

But Kurt proved to be an inspiration, recovering fully within a year, and returning to his acting career.

Rocky Fitzpatrick, who is helping organise The Gathering, said: “His comeback in sports came not long after in the Extreme Sports genre of BMX. He is the number one Adaptive BMXer in the world and participated in X-Games 16 and X-Games 17.”

Kurt’s visit to Deal is part of a tour of the United Kingdom to promote himself, his sponsors and other UK business interested in supporting his causes for this tour.

The trip will be documented by a professional film producer and edited into a multi- part series. The series will be featured on x games.com, espn.com, multiple BMX outlets, and YouTube.

For people interested mainly in musical line-up includes Craig Sheridan, Nicola Jane, The Black Mirrors, Suburban Radio and Crashgate.

There will be food stalls and TV coverage for Kurt’s five part TV series.

There is an after party at the Astor Theatre from 10pm until 1am.

Tickets are on sale at the theatre for £20.
