Striker Terry Dixon says he is enjoying his football again thanks to Dover Athletic manager Nicky Forster and wants to stay at Crabble until the end of the season.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joined Whites on loan from Bradford City in December and is due to return to the League 2 club at the end of the month.

But Dixon, whose skilful work on the ball was a feature of Dover’s 2-0 win over Eastleigh on Saturday, said: "I’m enjoying my football here, the gaffer has given me belief again.

"He’s given me confidence to express myself and hopefully I will be able to stay here until the end of the season.

"I’ve just got to get myself fitter now, lose a bit of weight and keep getting more matches under my belt."

The former Tottenham youth academy player, who also had spells with West Ham and Stevenage, has seen his career held back by injuries in recent years but Forster is in no doubt about his ability.

He said: "Terry’s quality is there for all to see, in fact, he’s in a different league and he just needs to get a bit fitter.

"We want to keep him here and hope we can work something out."
