Hoa Thi Nguyen and Wayne Lee charged in people smuggling investigation after speedboat searched at Walmer Beach

Two more people have been charged in connection with a human trafficking investigation which came to light when a speedboat was intercepted on a beach.

The pair, Hoa Thi Nguyen and Wayne Lee, have been charged nearly a month after police swooped on the vessel after it landed on the beach in Walmer.

Nguyen, 49, of Bisterne Avenue, Walthamstow, was charged last Thursday, August 30, with conspiracy to facilitating the illegal entry of foreign nationals into the UK, possession of criminal property, and assaulting a police constable.

Nguyen was arrested after officers from Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) executed two warrants in London that day.

A further two people were arrested during the warrants and have been released under investigation.

Lee, 46, of Grasmere Close, Watford, was charged on Friday, August 31, with conspiracy to facilitate the illegal entry of foreign nationals into the UK.

He had initially been arrested on August 3, along with a number of other people, after ERSOU and Border Force officials intervened a speed boat in Walmer that day.

Three other men - Nazmi Velia, 31, of Park Street Lane, St Albans, Egert Kajici, 34, of Turner Drive, Oxford, and Thomas Mason, 35, of High Street, Eyeworth, were all charged on August 4 with conspiracy to facilitate a breach of UK Immigration Law.

They remain in custody pending further court appearances.
