By Mercury reporter

Police are hunting vandals who have wrecked part of a golf course by driving over it leaving tyre marks.

The incident happened at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Golf Road, Deal, between 4pm on Sunday and 7.15am on Monday.

It appears a vehicle was driven around the fairway, causing extensive damage to the grass.

A police spokesman said: “We understand that the club is liaising with the council about a public right of way which is how the vehicles are getting on to the course.

“PCSO Gary Faulkner has also been informed and will be able to provide safety and security advice to the club.

“In the meantime if anyone has any information that may identify those responsible they are asked to contact Kent Police on 101 or, if they would prefer to remain anonymous, call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting crime reference ZY/59929/17.”
