Women attacked at Walmer Castle as man charged with carrying a knife

Two women were assaulted at a Tudor castle by a man reported to be carrying a knife.

A police spokesman confirmed Sean Brachet, 53, of no fixed address has been charged with the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place along with two counts of assault.

The charges relate to an incident at Walmer Castle in Deal on Friday, May 17, where two women were assaulted.

Brachet was charged the following day.

He will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, June 24.

English Heritage manages Walmer Castle, which was a residence of the Queen Mother who was a past Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports from 1978 until her death in March 2002.

The present Lord Warden is Admiral, the Lord Boyce.

English Heritage has been approached for a comment.
