Deal Town 4 Norton 0

After two disappointing league results, Deal warmed up for Saturday's Kent Senior Trophy quarter-final against Tunbridge Wells with a 4-0 win against Norton.

Deal had to wait 41 minutes before making the breakthrough when Danny Smith slid a pass into the Norton area for Mark Pollard to despatch a low right-footer.

They made it 2-0 after 58 minutes when Shane Suter pulled the ball back for Aaron Robinson to drill home, aided by Pollard's dummy.

Norton striker Harry Goodger was shown a straight a red card after an off-the-ball incident involving Deal centre-half Josh Davison, and Derek Hares' side capitalised with two more goals in the closing stages.

New signing Scott Holden, who had come on as a substitute for Pollard, made his mark with an 81st-minute header which brought out a good block from Charlie Donoghue, only for Leon Ingram to sweep home the rebound.

And in injury time Dave Bathgate drove in number four after another sweet passing move involving Smith and Robinson.

Deal: Rogers, Waring, Govey, Davidson (Bagley 82), Ingram, Suter (Cassar 75), Collins, Bathgate, Robinson, Pollard (Holden 76) Smith. Attendance: 100.
