KENT'S Karen Stupples has risen to a career-high 13th place in the women’s world golf rankings.

Stupples, from Deal, is on 255.84 points following her recent superb run of form, including winning the British Open. The only Briton above her in the rankings is Laura Davies, ninth with 307.15.

Stupples is not competing in this week’s US Tour event in Dublin, Ohio. Her father Alan said: “She’s been so busy lately that she is feeling really tired and needs a break.”

Last week Stupples was giving clinics and playing in pro-ams at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where she is the touring professional.

* As a result of her success, Stupples has been awarded a place in the Samsung World Championship in October. The venue has yet to be decided.
