Clay shooting in Kent: Noble Field Sports at Squerryes Estate, Westerham

If you have ever fancied having a go at traditional field sports in glorious, unspoilt countryside, but not the idea of killing wild animals, then one company on the edge of historic Westerham has the perfect answer.

Noble Simulated Field Sports based on the fabulous Squerryes Estate, provides everything you need for an exclusive day out in delightful woodland surroundings.

Whether you are an individual, business, or just someone simply looking for a novel way of celebrating a significant birthday, anniversary or event, the Noble team can tailor a day to suit your needs.

The days are hosted by Robert Parker-Swift, ably assisted by his great team of instructors and helpers.

If you don’t own a gun and have never fired one before it is not a not problem, as they provide friendly and keen instructors to give guidance to the total novice as well as those with more experience who need their skills refining.

During my introduction I was assigned to instructor and professional British No2 sports shooter Ross Straker, who has just been signed up by Italian gunmaker Zoli.

With a few insights into safety and gun handling as well as shooting tips, I was regularly hitting clays in no time at all, as were other first-timers with their instructors.

After a couple of sessions of shooting from different ‘stands’ on the sprawling estate, it was back the Mr Parker-Swift’s purpose-built cosy lodge, complete with an open fireplace and comfortable sofas for a sumptuous lunch and a glass or two of the Squerryes estate’s gold medal winning sparkling wine.

Noble generally run corporate events, but also provides sessions for individuals one day a month as an introduction to the sport, which also includes archery days as well.

Mr Parker-Swift, who has been running the business on the estate for five years, said: "It’s all about giving people an exclusive experience with some luxury thrown in."

"Clients tell us what they want from the days they book and we do everything we can to structure their special day to their particular requirements."
