Dover v Maidstone

Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler has admitted he still worries about Dover's title chances this season, despite the Whites' 17-point lead in the Ryman League Premier Division.

As he prepares his side for Saturday’s home Kent derby against Maidstone, Hessenthaler said: “I have never been in this position before and every now and again you worry a little bit about if the wheels are suddenly going to come off.

“But the encouraging thing is that whenever we have lost this season, we have immediately bounced back.

“If we don’t lose two games in a row between now and the end of the season, we will win the league. We will only have to start worrying if we lose three or four on the bounce.”

The Maidstone clash is certain to draw another big crowd to Crabble, with Hessenthaler saying: “I know a lot of their players well, including Ian Cox and Roland Edge from my Gillingham days, as well their managers Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume, and it should be a cracking game.”

Dover have yet to draw a league game this season and the Stones – who won 3-2 against Ramsgate last Saturday – will fancy their chances of ending that statistic.

Centre-half Ollie Schulz is ruled out by a one-match ban for five bookings, but midfielder Alan Pouton returns to the squad after a hamstring problem.
