Dover boss Chris Kinnear says it's all about learning and progressing for his young emerging team

Chris Kinnear was delighted with his side's finishing as they halted a three-match losing run with a 3-1 home win over Barrow and move back into the top-four of the Vanarama National League.

Ricky Modeste, central defender Richard Orlu's first of the season, and a powerful left-foot strike by Ricky Miller all in a 24-minute spell in the first half decided the contest, and proved one defeat too many for Barrow boss Darren Edmondson, who was sacked on Sunday.

No such problems for Kinnear, whose only disappointment was seeing his side fail to add to their impressive display in the second half.

Kinnear said: " We played the way we want to in the first half, but you know what players are like, they seemed to think they had done enough, and there was a little bit of coasting in the second.

"I wasn't disappointed so much that we didn't add to our lead, but because we didn't play quite as well.

"We were happy to get the three points, which keeps us right up there."

He added: "All three were great goals weren't they - we knocked it about for Richard Orlu's, the move built up, and the lad he was marking dropped deeper and deeper, and he just happened to find himself on the edge of the box, and it was a great shot.

"There was no pick of the bunch for me, we play with four forwards, Stefan Payne was hot earlier in the season, and rattling them in every week, but now we have got Modeste and Miller scoring in this game, and the whole squad are good enough to keep progressing.

"I don't think there is a younger team than us in the league - certainly not in the top half- it's all about learning and moving on."
