Dover boss Chris Kinnear says his side are starting to look the part after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Aldershot Town in the Vanarama National League.
Striker Stefan Payne had put Whites ahead but the hosts equalised just before half-time to salvage a point after being outplayed by Kinnear’s side for two-thirds of the match.
Kinnear said: “We ran them ragged, particularly for the first 35 minutes or so and we should have gone on and finished it because we were hammering them.
“There was none of that long-ball stuff from us. We kept the ball, passed it about superbly and they couldn’t get near us.
“So well did we start that you would have thought we were the big former Football League team, not them.
“It was exactly how we all want to play but again just one ingredient was missing – goals.
“I thought the way we started was fantastic and we created so many chances as a result – we just couldn’t make that pressure count with the goals we deserved.
“The lads are disappointed to leave with just a point after they again dominated the game for so long but I have no doubt that we’ll get it right soon.
“We don’t look that far away and hopefully we can push on against Altrincham at Crabble on
Saturday.”
