DOVER'S miserable recent record in cup competitions continued as they were swept out of the FA Trophy at Broadhall Way on Saturday. Already without the suspended Jimmy Strouts and injured Matt Carruthers and Jimmy Aggrey, Whites' problems increased when they lost midfielder Neil Le Bihan after just four minutes.

Fifteen minutes later new manager Neville Southall was forced to reshuffle his pack again when leading scorer Keith Scott went off with a facial injury. But Dover held out until the 32nd minute when a defensive error by Lee Shearer allowed Adrian Clarke to put Stevenage ahead.

Jean-Michael Sigere pounced on another defensive blunder, this time by Jake Leberl, to make it 2-0 just before half-time, and then Stevenage made it a nap hand after the break through Kirk Jackson (two) and Clarke before Steve Norman pulled a goal back 13 minutes from time.

Southall said afterwards: "It's disappointing, but at the moment we are not good enough. This result and the league table do not lie, and as the manager I have got to do something about it.

"There were a number of people I wasn't happy with, but there were some that I was. About 90 per cent of the players are giving all they've got. Whether that's enough is a different matter. The ones that aren't giving everything will be out."
