St Joseph's Convent Preparatory School

St Joseph’s is an independent Primary and Pre-Prep (nursery) school for 3 to 11-year-olds in Gravesend. We pride ourselves on educational excellence and a varied programme of extra-curricular activities and events to help our children develop into independent learners and help them to prepare socially, morally, and culturally for the world that awaits them.

Small Class sizes and specialist lessons: We offer a safe, nurturing and happy environment for children. Our pupils benefit from an exceptional curriculum with small class sizes allowing for more focussed and tailored learning to suit each class.  All children, from Pre-Prep to Year 6, also have lessons with specialist teachers in languages, speech and drama, music and physical education. The school also features extensive grounds for outdoor play and sport and an onsite swimming pool.

Educational Excellence: All our Year 6 pupils in 2019/20 passed their 11 plus and pupils consistently achieve places at their first choice secondary schools.St Joseph’s is rated Good in all areas in its last Ofsted report. View the report online here.

Affordable Fees: Our proprietors, the Sisters of Mercy, founded St Joseph’s to offer an excellent education to as many children as possible.  To achieve this, all of our income is reinvested into the school, keeping our fees a low as possible.

Wraparound care and location: St Joseph’s is situated in Gravesend, with easy access to the A2 and M2 and Ebbsfleet and Gravesend train stations.  We also offer breakfast and after school clubs, providing wraparound care from 7.30am to 6pm every day to allow for more flexible pick up and drop off times.

Admissions: We have limited places available for September 2020 and registration is also open for September 2021.
