Suspected arsonists have torched a large treehouse on a country estate near Faversham

Detectives are investigating a suspected arson attack on a much-loved treehouse set within the grounds of a sumptuous manor.

Three fire crews were needed to tackle the blaze at Sole Street House near Faversham in the early hours of this morning.

The treehouse, raised around 10 feet above ground level, is large enough to accommodate 10 people.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 1.01am to a report of a suspicious fire in Selling Road, Faversham, in which it was reported that a treehouse had been set alight."

Sole Street House was recently on the market for just under £2million.

Set within 24 acres, the country estate boasts 10 bedrooms in the main house, as well as separate stables, coach house, glass house and tennis court.
