Swale Borough Council redeliver more than 2,000 voting packs after misleading information was published in instructions.

Swale Borough Council has apologised after more than 2,000 people received "misleading information" published in their voting instructions.

Many people living in Boughton and Courtenay, Watling, Abbey and St Ann's wards in Faversham were affected.

Part of the instructions page which was included in postal vote packs should have said "vote for no more than the number of candidates stated on your ballot paper" but it said "vote for one candidate".

The council has apologised for the error and sent out letters explaining where the wrong information is.

If you have already returned your postal vote pack and this update would have altered your vote, the council is urging people to contact the Maidstone helpline on 01622 602007 or email registration@maidstone.gov.uk

The instructions for the Town Council postal vote pack (lilac ballot paper) are correct.
