Fire in Horselees Road, Faversham, caused by cooking oil

Three fire engines attended a kitchen fire believed to have started after a pan of cooking oil caught alight.

Firefighters attended a property on Horselees Road in Faversham just after 7.30pm on Saturday and extinguished the flames using hose reel jets.

No injuries were reported and Kent Fire and Rescue Service reminded residents of the importance of fire safety in the kitchen.

A spokesman said: “It’s important to take care extra care in the kitchen and to keep cooking areas clean and clear of anything which could catch alight.

“Remember not to leave cooking unattended, and make sure you switch it off if you have to leave the room.”
