Faversham: Actor John McEnery and Steven Majewski appear at court for imitation gun offences

A former top actor accused of brandishing an imitation gun in two bars has made a further appearance in court.

John McEnery, who was once nominated for a Bafta, was in the dock with co-accused Steven Majewski.

They are jointly charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence to Christopher Baldock, Janis Osborn and Miranda Spendiff at binElla Wine and Champagne Bar at Standard Key in Faversham between July 1 and August 8 last year.

Bearded McEnery, 74, is accused of having the same gun – a black water pistol – at The Leading Light Wetherspoon pub in Preston Street on August 8.

He is alleged to have brandished the water pistol in front of barmaid Melissa Green while impersonating legendary actor Marlon Brando.

Majewski, 42, is also charged with a similar offence involving James Mete as he sat in an armchair in his motor home.

They have denied all of the charges and will stand trial on November 5.

McEnery, formerly from Faversham and now living in Marine Parade, Sheerness, and Majewski, of Canal Road, Strood, are on bail.

They both have a condition not to contact prosecution witnesses and Majewski is not to enter Faversham.

Former Shakespearian actor McEnery, who was married to Dynasty actress Stephanie Beacham from 1973 to 1979, was nominated for a BAFTA for his role as Mercutio in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film Romeo and Juliet.

He also appeared in Girl with a Pearl Earring in 2003 and other movie credits include Fury in 1973 and The Krays in 1990.
