Those travelling on the M2 are facing severe delays after a van came off the motorway.

The route was shut London-bound from Junction 6 for Faversham to Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury Roundabout.

Motorists are facing heavy delays in the area as recovery work takes place with the incident having a knock-on effect further down the motorway.

There is congestion to Junction 7 at the Brenley Corner and the A2 Boughton Bypass as it approaches the Junction 7 roundabout and traffic is also slow on London Road towards Faversham.

It has since reopened.

The A2 was also shut London-bound between the A2050 near Canterbury and Junction 7 of the M2 due to a multi-vehicle collision.

A spokesperson for police said they were called just after 3pm to reports of a collision involving three cars.

Just before 5:30pm they said: “Officers are currently at the scene and the carriageway is currently closed.

“Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area.”
