Faversham: Fire destroys pirate ship on river bank in Sandbanks Lane, Graveney

A blaze which left a pirate ship burning on a river bank for more than 12 hours is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to Sandbanks Lane in Graveney, Faversham, at about 11.15pm on Saturday after the boat caught fire.

Five fire engines attended and crews worked closely with the Environment Agency to make sure environmental damage was kept to a minimum.

A decision was taken to let the fire burn out.

Police have been contacted for more information.
