Sausage dogs gather for Kent Dachshunds Christmas party

This is the moment almost 150 sausage dogs in fancy dress and Christmas jumpers joined their owners for a festive knees-up.

The Kent Dachshunds club, which has close to 1,000 members in its Facebook group, organised the quirky event for the second year.

A tombola, refreshments and a number of games kept everyone entertained at the Willow Farm Equestrian Centre in Ospringe, Faversham, where the pooches gathered dressed in a range of costumes from fire engines to elves.

Almost £500 was raised and will be shared out between four separate charities - Last Chance in Edenbridge, South East Dog Rescue, Beacon Animal Rescue and Redwood Dog Rescue.

One of the organisers Lisa Stevens said: “I would like to thank everyone in Kent Dachshunds.

“They never fail to step up to the plate and it is very much appreciated.

“Over the last year, members have helped others when they needed care for their dogs or advice. The support has been amazing.

“It was a fantastic event.

“A great Christmas party.”
