Faversham Town joint-manager Danny Chapman targets successful Christmas period

Danny Chapman believes Faversham Town’s next three games in the Bostik South East are all winnable.

Faversham travel to Phoenix Sports on Saturday followed by a home game against Ashford on Boxing Day and a match at Ramsgate on December 29.

Chapman wants his side to have a good Christmas period to start looking up the table rather than over their shoulder.

Joint-manager Chapman said: “We are looking to have a good Christmas. If we can get some sort of run going we can start looking up the table.

“Every game is tough in this league. If you work hard then who knows what will happen.

“We have Phoenix, Ashford and Ramsgate next who are all winnable games. It is about how you perform in games. A win starts building something and helps with confidence.”

Ryan Huckle, who is on loan from Gillingham, made his first appearance for Faversham in the 3-1 victory over Sittingbourne on Saturday.

He joins Louie Catherall and Ben Chapman who are both already on loan at the club.

Huckle spent a month on loan at Dover earlier on in the season where he made a substitute appearance in their 2-0 win over Maidenhead on November 3.

Chapman said: “Both myself and Phil have a good relationship with Gillingham and it is good to get a couple of exciting youngsters into the squad.”

The 3-1 win over Sittingbourne was the first under Chapman and Phil Miles since they were appointed as joint managers.

Their first three matches in charge had ended with a 4-1 and 6-0 defeats followed by a 2-2 draw.

Chapman added: “We are delighted and it was a good result. The performance could have been better and in the second half the conditions made it a bit of a leveller but we dealt with it well. It is always important to get a good start in the game.

“It was a big confidence booster. It is about scoring goals and getting that first win for myself and Phil.

“Hopefully we can settle down now and kick on from here. We did get that reaction we were after and it is a result to build on.”
