Ray Turner predicts the best is yet to come from ambitious Faversham Town this season, with the manager targeting an unprecedented assault on the 100-point mark.

Turner remained philosophical after seeing Town’s five-week stint at the top of Ryman League, Division 1 South end on Tuesday night.

Third-placed Town are a point behind Burgess Hill in second, who have three games in hand and leaders Merstham, who have played two games more than Town and who visit Salters Lane on Saturday (3pm).

Turner said: “It’s evident that it’s going to be a big game – one of the biggest the club has had for a while.

“Merstham have been on an incredible run but it’s a fantastic challenge. It should be a cracking game.

“They haven’t lost for so long, it would be great to be the team to do it but if you can get a draw, then you’re not losing anything to your rivals."

He added: “We’ve got 49 points, so to match that achievement in the second half would take us to 98 but I see no reason why we can’t pass 100 if we can avoid dropping silly points like we’ve done on a couple of occasions early on.

“I’ve made a few little tweaks in personnel recently and expect us to be stronger in the second half of the season."
