Faversham boss Ray Turner admits one more defeat could end their Ryman League Division 1 South play-off chances

Town manager Ray Turner says Faversham players need to learn how to get around a parked bus – and before it’s too late.

Town suffered a blow to their bid for a return to the Ryman League, Division 1 South

play-off places with a 2-1 home defeat to bogey-side Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

Both goals came on the break and Turner admitted: “Teams tend to sit back when they come to our place. We need to be better with dealing with it.”

“Unfortunately, that cost us on Saturday and you can be sure Chipstead will be a similar story this week.”

Turner says defeat to the Surrey side – who have won three of their last four to move out of the relegation zone – could be a mortal blow to their hopes of a top-five place, despite sitting eighth, two points behind fifth-placed Hastings going into the weekend.

He said: “If we lose on Saturday, then I think that will be too many defeats for us to be able to say we merit a place.

“We would need a big slice of luck. We’re already outsiders.”

He added: “With nine games to go you might say you have go unbeaten to make it.

“It’s an important week for us and we want to get three points against Chipstead as a launch pad into a tricky game at South Park on Wednesday."
