A man had to be airlifted to a London hospital after a van and lorry collided on a major road.
The A20 Ashford Road was shut in both ways following the crash, which took place near Sellindge at 3.30am yesterday.
The stretch between Cooper's Road and Stone Hill remained closed while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit were on the scene.
A police spokeswoman said: "It was reported that a lorry and white van were travelling in the opposite direction on the A20 near Cooper’s Lane when they were involved in a collision.
"The incident happened at around 3.30am on Tuesday. The driver of the van suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
"The Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out inquiries into the incident, and would like to hear from people who were in the area at the time of the collision or might have dashcam footage.
"Witnesses are asked to call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798535 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting 02-0143."
