Car driver survives 150ft cliff plunge

A DRIVER was taken to hospital this afternoon after his car fell about 150ft from the top of a cliff at Capel, near Folkestone (Jane Barlow writes).

The man suffered leg, neck and head injuries but these were not thought to be life-threatening.

He was taken by the Kent Air Ambulance to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Earlier, a huge rescue operation was mounted at the scene near the Lighthouse pub in Old Dover Road.

Firefighters, paramedics and coastguards were involved in the rescue. Police sealed the area off to pedestrians and vehicles.
